Where we live Friday...

Kelly,at Kellyskornerblog is having a tour of homes every friday.I thought I would join in,and then I started looking at other people's kitchens.
All I can say is... WOW!There are SO many beautiful kitchens out there!!!
See,we don't own our house,so we are limited in what we can do with it.I started to feel like I must be the only person without new apliances, and granite countertops. And a dishwasher, and lot's of room to move around...
But,then I had a reality check.
I have been reading and following the blogs of those in India right now.And I want to be like the girl in the slums,so happy, content, and honored to show other's her little home.Truly, that is the heart God wants us to have.
God has blessed me.In compairison to what so many around the world have.Sure, compaired to those here in the states, our home is of humble dwellings, but compaired to those whom I have visited in Romania,in the gypsy villages. To those who live in the slums of India,I live in a palace. So,I am thankful for what we have been given. Our little home is filled with little pitter patters of four happy healthy children, lots of laughter and love fill our home.Though I won't lie, having four children under five, can make our house seem cramped, and pretty much everyday I wish we had a dishwasher, but I choose to be thankful, and content with what God has blessed us with dish water hands and all.
We don't have the latest and greatest, but we HAVE.We have hope in our Lord and Savior, and He has blessed us with this little cottage of a home, that we love, and are thankful for.
So,here is our kitchen, and at the end are some before pictures...
I made the curtains out of fabric I bought at goodwill, total cost was under ten dollars! All of the accessories I have bought at goodwill,or garage sales,or they were given to us as wedding gifts.

I keep the kids art supplies in the canvas containers, and below are the kids sippy cups. The like to be able to get their own drinks! Our back door that enters into the kitchen...

I painted around the top of the cabinets red,and the vines I got for free out of the trash at the floral shop I used to work at,don't worry, they had just been put in the trash when I discovered them!

I made this little box at biblestudy,it has all kinds of bible verses organized by topic. We work on memorizing one a week, and when the kids are mis-behaving,I refer to this box A LOT!Make one,you will be amazed at how it transforms your parenting!

There was LOTS of blue, everywhere. The wallpaper was about fifteen years old.The owners of the home were totally fine with us re-doing whatever we wanted.I had a friend who gave me the current wallpaper she purchased it,and then moved before she could put it up.It's a neutral scroll design, looks warn and chipped, and I LOVE it! Free, and Pretty, does not get better than that! There ya go folks, there is our cozy kitchen, check out all the other amazing kitchens too!

Thank you all for your sweet comments. You can get verses to use in your "God's tool Box" from Lisa Whelchels book creative correction. She has a TON of verses on all sorts of topics. We used scrapbook paper, and spray adhesive.and whatever little embelishments we could find. The tins were purchased online, but I'm sure you could find a little tin box around the house or at a local craft store! Thanks again Ladies!

Bethany, I LOVE your kitchen! It's so adorable, and your creativity just spills over in these pictures! I've always admired your decorating skills, you have a way of making ANYTHING look cute and cozy! I'd love for you to come and make our kitchen look that cute! :) I love your verse box, it's a great idea! Also wanted to add, we don't have a dishwasher, either... I know there are times when we probably feel like the only ones, but we are blessed to have roofs over our head, food on our tables, clothes on our backs, family who loves us and who we love unconditionally, and most importantly a God who loves us. When I think about all that, I realize that though a dishwasher would be nice, we really have everything we truly need. :) Blessings! :)

Hi! Love your kitchen....and your family is precious. Then I saw "Romania" and I was hooked. I went back and read your 2008 posts about your trip, etc. We have been supporting and in the process of adopting a little girl since 2003. You probably know the government closed adoptions in 2004It's a long story and I would fill up pages with details over the years, but I got the opportunity to go on a missions trip in 2004 to meet our girl. I can so relate to the gypsy villages and orphanages. I would love to visit with you sometime!
